Ice Cream Treats is a Cavan based producer of award winning luxury ice cream who use only the best ingredients and Irish dairy, for retail and catering businesses.
Ice Cream Treats were hoping to reduce their carbon footprint, reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and reduce their energy bills, so they contacted Micheal Smith from M&C Hybrid Energy to enquire about possible solutions.
To reduce their energy bills
Following a site visit from Michael Smith from M&C Hybrid Energy, Michael proposed the installation of 40 Solar PV array panels on the south facing roof of the property. These Tier 1 panels capture sunlight and convert it into (AC) energy to be used in place of fossil fuels throughout the building. These panels also enabled excess electricity to be stored into a battery or to be fed back into the grid.
To share this process with their staff and customers M&C Hybrid Energy installed a virtual display system in the reception area of Ice-Cream Treats which shows live updates of the efficiency of the panels and the energy being produced.
These Tier 1 panels have enabled Ice-Cream Treats to:
Average annual Savings:
Approximately €1512 savings on electricity per year
Energy Generated: 1051.10 KW units of power per annum
Saving 557 Kg on CO2 emissions per month
40 Trina Solar PV Panels with Fronius Symo Inverter
“We were delighted to work with Gerry and the Ice-Cream Treats team playing our part in helping another industrial client reduce their reliance on fossil fuels to run the factory daily. Designing and installing this Solar PV Array will reduce their carbon footprint and in turn save on energy bills.”
