TEXACO FILLING STATION, WILKINSTOWN

Doughty’s Texaco Mace, Wilkinstown, Navan is a very busy filling station on the outskirts of Navan town.

Brendan was keen to get an energy assessment to look at how he could achieve a better energy rating and see how he could reduce the day to day running costs of the filling station.

Following a site visit, a one to one meeting and a thorough roof inspection Micheal was happy to work on a PV design for these premises.

It was always been of upmost importance to try and

  • Improve energy efficiency
  • Reduce reliance of fossil fuels
  • Play our part in producing clean energy

On a 3 phase system the maximum amount of PV that the ESB will allow you to connect is 11kw without having to put on G10 relay.

An 11kw PV system with Van Der Valk roof mounting kit along with Trina Solar was installed as it is a Tier 1 product on the roof of the filling station to offset emissions by generating on site.

The 11Kw installation incorporates 40 x 270 watt panels fixed to the flat-roof of the building.  One of the biggest challenges of installing solar panels on a flat roof is the risk of compromising the waterproof integrity of the roof.

This PV installation will offset approximately 10,000 kwh of electricity per annum and will do this for at least 25 years with no maintenance.

Average annual Savings:

Approximately €1500.00 savings on electricity per year

Energy Generated: 10,000 units of power per annum

System Size: 11kw Trina PV Panel with Fronius Symo Inverter

“The use of PV Solar panels instead of non-renewable energy sources meant that this project will make a huge offset against CO² Emissions. Also it will have a longer lasting impact as it will demonstrate to the wider public and private sector how PV is now a cost effective option in the Irish climate. ” Micheal Smith – M&C Hybrid Energy Ltd.
